Chattahoochee Hills council approves park map, donation, grant support and agreements; development items deferred

At its Sept. 5 meeting, the Chattahoochee Hills City Council approved several administrative and parks-related items and authorized grant support while deferring major development actions.
The council unanimously approved the Parks Commission recommendation to post an updated trail map for Cochran Mill Park and accepted a $9,924 donation from the Art Farm at Serenbe to fund a kiosk at Hutcheson Ferry Park and signs for both Hutcheson Ferry and Cochran Mill parks. Councilmember Lightsey moved to approve the trail map and Councilmember Peek seconded; Councilmember Lowe moved to accept the donation with Councilmember Foster seconding. Both motions passed unanimously.
On grants and finance, the council approved a resolution supporting a USDOT Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Safety Action Planning grant application for $180,000 with a required 20% local match of $45,000. The council also approved the 2024 Tax Collection Agreement.
The meeting recessed into an executive session for real estate matters and reconvened; the council then voted to approve the TPL-Chattahoochee Hills Service Agreement. The minutes record unanimous votes on these items.
Several development-related agenda items were deferred to the October meeting, including the Merrill Park Village rezoning, the buffer variance and the development agreement; the council directed staff to include a public hearing on the buffer variance in October. The city manager also reported the city received a $200,000 local maintenance grant that will go toward roads and said the city is implementing ClearGov to create a digital budget book ahead of a GFOA submission.
