The City of Brooklet on March 19 approved an employee health-insurance renewal effective April 1, 2026 after a presentation by Paul Collins, vice president of employee benefits at Assured Partners.
Collins presented proposed increases: a 6.5% rise for the medical plan and a 5% increase for the bridge policy. He recommended remaining with the current plan, noting it remains cost-effective compared with alternatives and "provides employees with a $0 net deductible," a feature the plan maintains under the renewal.
Councilman Brad Anderson moved to approve the renewal; Mayor Pro-Tem Keith Roughton seconded. The council voted unanimously, 5-0 (Ayes: Brad Anderson, Keith Roughton, Phillip Oliver, Sheila Wentz, Rebecca Kelly).
Council members discussed the city's overall fiscal pressures during the meeting, including a projected $200,000 deficit and the need to limit spending for the remainder of the fiscal year. The insurance renewal proceeded despite those concerns after Collins's presentation and the council's review.
