Boulder City liquor board approves permits for senior center raffle, Doodlebug Bazaar and Art in the Park

The Boulder City Business License Liquor Board on July 14, 2026 approved a series of event and gambling permits for local nonprofits, including a monthly 50/50 raffle for the Senior Center of Boulder City, a raffle at the Doodlebug Bazaar, and a Class G special-event liquor license and raffle permit for the Boulder City Hospital Foundation’s Art in the Park.
City staff reported they had received a complete application from the Senior Center of Boulder City and recommended approval of a calendar-year gambling permit for a monthly 50/50 raffle that would be open only to registered members and their guests. The staff presentation said the Senior Center is registered with the Nevada Gaming Control Board and meets the requirements of section 44 of the city code; staff estimated the monthly prize at "a couple $100." Chair called the proposal "straightforward," a motion was made and seconded, and the board approved the permit by voice vote.
In the next item, staff said the Boulder City Community Club applied for a special-event raffle permit to hold a raffle at the organization’s annual Doodlebug Bazaar on Dec. 5, to be held in parks and recreation facilities. Staff said total prizes for that raffle are valued at about $1,000 and that proceeds will be donated to other Boulder City community organizations. Following the staff report, the board moved and voted to approve the special-event gambling permit.
Staff also presented applications from the Boulder City Hospital Foundation for its annual Art in the Park event, scheduled in October 2026 at Wilbur Square/Bicentennial Park in the area around City Hall. The foundation requested a Class G special-event liquor license (allowing sale of all liquor types) and a special-event gambling permit for a raffle. Staff said ticket sales will run from Sept. 11 through the day of the event and that the maximum prize value would be $1,500; proceeds will support the hospital’s operations and services. The board moved and approved both the liquor license and the raffle permit by voice vote.
There were no public commenters either in the chambers or by phone during the two public comment periods. The chair thanked participants and adjourned the meeting.
