The Ulster County Legislature adopted four organizational resolutions at its Jan. 6, 2026 meeting in Kingston.
Majority Leader Abe Uchitelle presided over the Committee of the Whole. Legislator Hewitt moved to consider Resolutions Nos. 1–4 as a block; Legislator Nolan seconded the motion, which passed 23-0. Legislator Nolan moved to adopt the blocked resolutions and Legislator Levine seconded; the adoption carried by a unanimous vote.
The adopted measures were: • Resolution No. 1 — Adoption of the Rules of Order (adopted 23-0). • Resolution No. 2 — Appointing Victoria A. Fabella as Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature (adopted 23-0). • Resolution No. 3 — Creating standing committees for the year 2026 (adopted 23-0). • Resolution No. 4 — Designation of official newspapers: Daily Freeman and Southern Ulster Times for certain legal notices; Hudson Valley One and Shawangunk Journal for publication of local laws and notices (adopted 23-0).
The Committee of the Whole adjourned at 7:02 PM. No public comment was offered on the resolutions. The organizational meeting concluded with an adjournment in memory read by Legislator Sperry and formal adjournment at 7:05 PM.
