Ulster County Legislature adopts broad slate of contracts, budget amendments and bonds; key votes at a glance

At its Feb. 17 meeting, the Ulster County Legislature approved a long consent calendar and a set of non-consent items covering contracts, program grants, budget amendments and bond authorizations across many departments.
Among adopted items recorded in the minutes were contracts and budget actions for the Sheriffs Office, Department of Probation, Department of Mental Health (including opioid settlement allocations), Office for the Aging and Department of Public Works. The minutes list multiple contract approvals (for example, Ellenville First Aid & Rescue Squad; New Paltz Rescue Squad; XYBIX Systems Inc.; CPL Architects) and amendments causing several contracts to exceed $50,000 as reported in the packet.
Bond and capital projects adopted include: the 2026 DPW Bridge Program (Resolution 73) authorizing $125,805 in bonds; Landing Road embankment stabilization (Resolution 80) authorizing $2,300,000 in bonds; Mt. Marion traffic light preliminary planning (Resolution 82) authorizing $16,000 in bonds; and facility upgrades and pump house work (Resolutions 75, 86). Most of these measures carried; a small number recorded no votes or a few noes or abstentions as listed in the minutes.
The minutes also record changes to departmental budgets (for early intervention and child-abuse prevention funding), acceptance of grants (for the Hudson River Foundation and Hudson Valley Regional Council), workforce and appointment votes, and authorization to participate in state programs such as the Private Well PFAS testing and mitigation rebate pilot program. Resolution No. 103, authorizing a HUD Lead Hazard Reduction contract, was moved to consent and adopted.
