The Brooks Town Council unanimously approved a fence variance for 113 W. McIntosh Rd after a brief public hearing on Dec. 16.
Staff member M. Ungaro explained that the applicant had installed a 6-foot privacy fence roughly 60 feet off the rear property line to provide privacy from traffic and to reduce lighting from Hwy 85 Connector. After staff told the resident the installed slats exceeded the allowed height, the resident applied for a variance and the hearing was held. Council Member Brian Davis moved to approve the variance; Council Member Kay Brumbelow seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
During the hearing, Council Member Kay Brumbelow asked whether the increased height had any negative ramifications; Ungaro responded there were none. The applicant, identified as resident Aaron Edge, said the fence is intended to provide backyard privacy and limit highway lighting intrusion.
