Thomasville ABC Board reports modest February sales gain, cites shifting customer preferences

The Thomasville ABC Board of Directors reviewed February financials on March 24, 2026, reporting a 0.85% increase in store sales compared with February 2025 while statewide sales fell 3.24%, the board was told. Store General Manager Leigh Ann Lowe said the store’s average daily sales for February, calculated from the state spreadsheet that excludes sales tax, were $16,972.
Lowe told the board that previous higher daily averages came from the store’s internal spreadsheet, which included sales tax; the board will use the state spreadsheet excluding sales tax for future daily-sales calculations to keep reporting consistent. The board also reviewed the Comparative Income Statement and noted mark-down sales were down while investment income increased. Checking and money-market balances remain strong, the report said, and no budget amendments were necessary at this time.
Routine business during the meeting included approval of the agenda, the conflict-of-interest statement, and the minutes of the Feb. 24 meeting (Motion: Don Clinard; Second: Cran Plyler; unanimous), and approval of payrolls for the weeks ending March 1 and March 14, 2026 (same voting record). The board accepted the February 2026 Law Enforcement report. The board adjourned and scheduled its next meeting for April 21 at 10:00 a.m.
