Fire department files FEMA grant for Jaws-of-Life, plans Aug. 15 fundraiser

Tom Diekmann, filling in for absent firefighter Jim, told the council that the Fire Department submitted a FEMA grant application for Jaws-of-Life hydraulic rescue equipment and expects to hear by the end of the summer if the grant is approved. He also said the department is planning a fundraiser on Aug. 15 that will require a liquor license; Clerk Amber Bertrand noted the city accepts liquor license applications only within a 30-day window and will ensure the license is filed.
Tom reported hail damage to a new grass rig while the department was storm watching; Amber said she filed an insurance claim and Tom indicated the rig will be taken to Cliff’s in Adrian for an estimate.
