Commission on Local Government conducts routine business, sets Nov. 4 meeting

The Commission on Local Government conducted routine business at its Oct. 15, 2021 meeting in Henrico.
R. Michael Amyx moved to approve the draft meeting agenda; Diane M. Linderman seconded the motion and the Commission approved the agenda. Ms. Linderman then moved to approve the minutes of the Commission’s Sept. 9 regular meeting; Mr. Amyx seconded and the motion passed.
Cody Anderson, Policy Analyst at the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), read public comments submitted in advance and told the Commission that no attendees present indicated an intention to speak during the public comment period; the public comment period was closed.
Ms. Wheaton and Mr. Conmy provided an update on the Mandatory Property Tax Exemption Study; Conmy said a draft report will be presented to the Commission for review and approval at the Nov. 4 regular meeting. Mr. Anderson also informed the Commission that the 2022 meeting schedule will be under consideration at the Nov. 4 meeting.
Mr. Anderson noted upcoming events of interest for Commission members and staff, including the Virginia Governor’s Housing Conference (Nov. 10–12) and the Virginia Association of Counties Annual Conference (Nov. 14–16). Upon a motion made and duly seconded, the Commission adjourned.
