Lismore maintenance plans: valve exercising, park upgrades and Booster Club hookup tabled

Maintenance lead Josh reported at the June 8 City of Lismore council meeting that valve exercising is planned for June 22 and that MRWA charges “per week not per day,” which would make the contractor cost about $800 including delivery and pickup. Josh gave counts for the system: 39 main valves, 20 hydrants and six valves at the ponds.

Josh said the ponds have been discharged for the summer and that recently scheduled street work is complete, with Amber Bertrand awaiting the county invoice. He confirmed that fans were installed at the park shelter and new lights placed in the shop. Josh said a vanity in the park bathrooms was failing and he plans to reuse salvaged sinks to build a new base.

Brandon Diekmann, speaking for the Booster Club, asked whether the city would cover hookup costs for ballfield bathroom utilities. Council members asked Josh to check line routing and sufficient flow; the council tabled any decision until Josh reports back at the next meeting.

On property maintenance, Council member Ken Leinen asked whether the Presbyterian Church should pay for chip seal in its parking area. Clerk Amber Bertrand explained the church is in the business district and that the church originally paid to have that parking area paved; the council confirmed the church will be invoiced for upkeep when pricing is available. Council also decided to use leftover red rock at the ballfield parking rather than sell it.

The council approved the maintenance report on a motion by Austin Garms and seconded by Ryan.
