The Commission on Local Government approved changes to the 2021 edition of the Catalog of State and Federal Mandates on Local Governments Sept. 9 and heard staff briefings on regulatory and workgroup matters.
LeGrand Northcutt presented guidance from the Office of Regulatory Management on how the Commission could be affected by new rules tied to the Unified Regulatory Plan and periodic rule reviews. Later, Northcutt presented changes to the Catalog of State and Federal Mandates; the Commission approved those changes unanimously on a motion by Commissioner Edwin S. Rosado, seconded by Commissioner Stephanie Davis.
Staff also updated commissioners on workgroup activity: the Broadband Stakeholder Advisory Workgroup and the Virginia Code Commission Workgroup on Public Notices reported progress. Chase Sawyer gave an update on Planning District Commission annual reports and said those reports would be presented to the Commission at a later meeting. Commissioners noted upcoming events including the Virginia Municipal League Annual Conference, the Virginia Association of Counties Annual Conference, and the Virginia Governor’s Housing Conference.
No additional business was brought before the Commission, which adjourned to its next regular meeting on Nov. 4.
