Commission concludes business: workgroups closed, 2023 meeting dates approved

The Commission on Local Government received staff updates that the Broadband Stakeholder Advisory Workgroup and the Virginia Code Commission Workgroup on Public Notices have completed their work.
Staff encouraged Commissioners to attend the VACo annual conference, the Virginia Governor's Housing Conference, and Virginia Local Government Day. The Commission adopted its proposed 2023 meeting schedule (Jan. 6; March 10; May 5 virtual; July 7; Sept. 8; Nov. 3 virtual) on a motion by Commissioner Edwin S. Rosado, seconded by Commissioner Ceasor T. Johnson. The Commission noted it will elect its chair and vice chair at the January meeting.
The Commission recognized Commissioner Rosemary M. Mahan in her final meeting and observed a moment of silence for Dr. John Moeser of Richmond, who died Oct. 17, 2022. Commissioner Johnson moved to adjourn until the next regular meeting on Jan. 6, 2023; Commissioner Rosado seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
