Commissioners adopt temporary road-closure ordinance for summer Concerts on the Deck

The North Wilkesboro Board of Commissioners on March 3 adopted Ordinance 2026-06 to declare temporary road closures for the town’s summer Concerts on the Deck series.
Community Development Coordinator Alyssa Billings told the board staff had received a request to close CBD Loop from 7th Street to 9th Street before and after concerts — specifically from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on the third Saturday of June, July, August and September. The ordinance lists the event dates as June 20, July 18, August 15 and September 19, 2026.
The ordinance, enacted under authority cited in the text, becomes effective when signs giving notice of the limits and times are erected and adequate traffic control is implemented. Commissioner Andrew Palmer moved to approve the ordinance; Commissioner Alex Hamilton seconded and the motion passed unanimously (4-0).
The ordinance text notes the town allows approximately two hours for installation of signage and traffic control and two hours for removal and cleanup. Residents and event organizers should expect temporary traffic changes on the listed dates and times.
