San Luis Valley SBDC updates commissioners on services, outreach and veteran support

Brian Lindert, Director of the San Luis Valley Small Business Development Center, presented an update to the Alamosa County Board explaining program services and outreach.
Lindert said the SBDC, located on the Adams State campus, operates five days a week and offers evening and Saturday availability by appointment. The center provides startup assistance and ongoing business support, works with local banks and the Development Resources Group to connect businesses with funding, and is conducting a community survey to identify needed resources.
Commissioner Lori Laske asked for clarification on how the SBDC’s role differs from the federal Small Business Administration. Vice Chair Arlan Van Ry described how the SBDC had helped him when he started his business and asked about veteran-focused resources; Lindert said the center connects clients with veteran-specific assistance and can help with registration as a veteran-owned business.
