The Kennebunk Select Board voted June 9 to approve a victualer license and a liquor license for The Greenery Cafe LLC as the business changes hands to new owner Amy Hale. Town Clerk Merton Brown said the town has received all paperwork except the state inspection; the licenses will be issued once that inspection is complete.
Amy Hale introduced herself to the board and described the enterprise as a breakfast‑focused restaurant with interest in community engagement. Hale told the board she is closing on the York Street property this week and is awaiting local permits before opening; she also operates another Greenery Cafe in Ogunquit.
The board considered the applications during a public hearing and approved the licenses on a motion by Select Board member Lisa Pratt, seconded by Karen Plattes. The vote by show of hands was 5 in favor, 0 opposed, with two members absent (Kortney Nedeau and Kevin Therrien). The chair thanked donors to the Kennebunk Dog Park earlier in the meeting as part of routine consent business.
The Town Clerk reiterated that issuance of the victualer and liquor licenses is contingent on completion of the state inspection; no further conditions were recorded in the public minutes. The town will notify the applicant when the inspection has been returned and the licenses can be issued.
