Tega Cay EDC discusses 2026 initiatives, notes two vacant seats

Tega Cay — The Economic Development Commission reviewed possible directions for its 2026 work program at a meeting Feb. 24 at the Philip T. Glennon Center. Chair Ashley Rabon said the commission is looking at strategies used by the Rock Hill Economic Development Committee, including public-private partnerships and closer collaboration with local institutions such as Winthrop University.
Staff member Theo Markarov presented background on the Rock Hill approach and identified elements that might transfer to Tega Cay’s smaller setting. Commissioners emphasized outreach to local institutions and private developers as a means to support small-business growth and attract investment.
The commission also recorded two vacant seats after the relocations of Thomas Carpenter and Matthew Lindesey; vacancy appointments were not scheduled during the meeting. Earlier in the session the panel voted to approve the Nov. 24, 2025 meeting minutes; the motion passed unanimously. The commission discussed that its next Business Connect meeting will be April 16, 2026, where more outreach and partnership planning will be on the agenda.
