Lyon County board approves agenda and minutes; hears park funding requests and staff report showing $1.18 million balance

The Lyon County board approved the meeting agenda and the minutes from April 8, 2026, each by 4-0 votes.
Richard Mitrotz of the Silver Springs Chamber of Commerce used the public-participation slot to request that the Board add, to a future agenda, an item to accept a donated tree and granite stone in memory of Kim Fairbanks for placement at a Silver Springs park; Board members noted the request for a future agenda.
Staff reported on parks and facilities: parks are open, a scoreboard donated by Scheels will arrive and be installed at Silver Stage within a week, and regional parks and proposed park-project updates were provided. The funds update was recorded as $1,179,332.49.
The Board reviewed several tabled 2025 recommendations for possible future use of Residential Construction Tax funds. The items included upgrading equipment at the Dayton Skate Park at Como Park and adding more outfield grass at Silver Stage Park to give more space for football. Separately, AYSO in Dayton requested six portable lights estimated at $53,000. No discussion or votes were taken on these tabled items at this meeting.
During Chair/Member comments the Board again noted the Celebration of Life donation for Kim Fairbanks and placed it on future-agenda consideration. The meeting adjourned at 5:23 p.m.
