Deerfield committee reviews Deerfield Elementary BMS report as Green Communities funding eyed

Alex Galloway reported to the Deerfield Energy Conservation Committee on March 12 that the Building Management Systems (BMS) report for Deerfield Elementary School has been submitted and reviewed on-site.
Galloway said he and others met with Bill Hildreth, School Facilities Manager, Mark Rabinsky of DOER, and Kyle Houser to view the BMS work and discuss options for the next funding round under the Green Communities program. According to the committee minutes, Rabinsky raised the option that Frontier could apply for a Green Communities grant with the support of all four towns.
The discussion focused on funding pathways and next steps; no formal motion was taken on the grant application during the meeting. Committee members recorded the report submission and indicated they would pursue follow-up conversations about whether a joint application is appropriate and who would serve as applicant and lead on technical submissions.
The committee did not set a timeline for a grant application during the meeting. The item will be revisited as staff and committee members gather more information about eligibility and responsibilities for a multi-town application.
