Roger Triplett said he has seen as many as 30 cars coming and going in the area on some days and described packages being left on the street ‘‘that bear cartoon and candy-related branding,’’ which he said could be attractive to children. He asked the Board for increased police presence and suggested code enforcement review of a house he identified.
James Young said the ongoing activity has left vulnerable neighbors—‘‘elderly, disabled, and families with children’’—worried about safety and that packages on the ground could be mistaken for candy. Young told the Board he would support higher taxes if necessary to fund more law enforcement.
Mayor Nancy B. Walker acknowledged the community’s concerns and requested continued attention from law enforcement, noting the Board has heard similar complaints. No formal action, motion, or vote directing staff or police to take a specific new step was recorded in the meeting minutes.
The public comments came during the meeting’s public comment period. The Board did not record a motion in the minutes to allocate funds or change law‑enforcement staffing levels at this session; any such measures would require separate agenda items and formal action at a future meeting.
