Laconia Public Library board approves financial reports, notes $8,000 FY25 underspend; building and grant updates announced

At the Laconia Public Library Board of Trustees meeting April 23, trustees approved financial reports through March 31, 2026, and accepted FY25 financial reports after hearing that the library underspent the FY25 budget by approximately $8,000 due to market-rate salary readjustments. Trustee Marie Bradley moved to accept the financial reports through March 31 (motion seconded by Michael Argiropolis) and the vote was unanimous; the FY25 report acceptance (motion: Bradley; second: Johnson) was recorded as passed.

Director Deann Hunter highlighted a petty-cash disbursement and said two chart-of-account adjustments will be made. Pro tem Treasurer Matthew Johnson urged trustees to monitor discrepancies between the city financial system (Munis) and the library's internal spreadsheets, saying he expects alignment over the next year. The Investment Committee meeting is scheduled for May 5 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bank of New Hampshire.

On facilities, Trustee Marie Bradley reported that a JACE network controller was installed and replacement of the remaining slate valley is underway. A flooring vendor visit for the Storytime Room did not proceed and will be rescheduled; investigation is ongoing into installing a sink in the Storytime Room, and the furniture order for that room has been placed while an estimate for storage cabinets is pending. The Main Level LED retrofit grant was awarded in full. Periodicals Room flooring remains on hold because of maintenance workload. Chairman John Moriarty noted a larger Church Street project (archways, steps, retaining wall and sewer line) and said a request to use impact fees for the JACE replacement is on the City Council agenda.
