The Easton Board of Selectmen on April 9 voted unanimously to set an amended agenda for the town's Annual Town Meeting on April 27, 2026, and confirmed the upcoming meeting will include a presentation of a proposed FY 2026–2027 budget totaling $53,997,174.
At the special meeting, the board removed the phrase "on approval" from two agenda items, replaced "unassigned" with "undesignated," and inserted "in FY 2025-2026" after references to expenses and overtime. Kristi Sogofsky moved to adopt the amended agenda; Nick D'Addario seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The board flagged two separate special appropriation requests that appear on the April 27 agenda: a $50,000 request for legal expenses and a $60,000 request to cover police overtime in FY 2025–2026. The agenda also lists a proposed acceptance of a five-year capital plan, proposed Purchasing Ordinance amendments, and approval of the grand list.
First Selectman Dan Lent thanked the Board of Finance, Finance Director Christine Calvert, and Town Hall staff for their work on the budget and urged residents to attend the annual meeting. Board member Kristi Sogofsky said the Board of Education will host informational meetings about the schools' portion of the budget; the board did not set dates at the April 9 meeting. Nick D'Addario encouraged residents to review the budget materials before the meeting.
The board noted that, under the current membership, general public comment has not been a routine part of Annual Town Meeting agendas; the board said it will review rules and procedures if members request changes. The meeting was adjourned at 7:03 p.m.
