FABBA representatives described a signature corner sculpture at Cooper and Flagler, new turtle‑safe streetlights, coordinated blue‑and‑gray trash totes wrapped with local art and kinetic surfer sculptures to reflect the town’s surf identity. Presenters also proposed turning the gazebo into a destination with local art panels and color‑changing holiday lighting.
Maintenance operations director David Ray told commissioners the bulk of materials and purchases will be placed under purchase orders before the end of the calendar year to preserve ARPA funding eligibility. He said the light poles and installation will return to the commission for final approval on Dec. 10; those poles are not being paid with ARPA funds.
Public comments included requests to ensure the design accounts for flooding and stormwater resilience. Director Ray said the plan emphasizes marine‑grade materials and that the team coordinated with city staff to avoid future stormwater conflicts.
Next steps: Final designs and the light‑pole project will come back to the commission for approval in December; other elements will be implemented in phases over the coming weeks and months.
