The Town of Cromwell Community Events Committee decided May 21 to participate in Cromwell’s Memorial Day parade, approved buying 175 lawn signs for festival publicity and urged use of about $2,500 in remaining fiscal year 2026 town funds, members said at a regular meeting in Cromwell Council Chambers.
Treasurer Barbara Lesi reported that sponsorships have been received from Denovellis Family Restaurant and The Learning Exchange and that overall committee finances are in good condition. Lesi told the committee that the town finance department’s cutoff for FY26 payments is June 5 and asked the group to make best efforts to spend the remaining FY26 allocation (about $2,500) before the fiscal year ends on June 30, 2026.
Committee business included seating an alternate, approving prior minutes and routine event updates. A motion by Barbara Lesi, seconded by Karen Ambler, to seat Matt Blanchette as an alternate passed unanimously. The committee also approved the minutes of the May 7 special meeting on a motion by Matt Blanchette, seconded by Barbara Lesi.
On programming and logistics, Karen Ambler said the draft “run of show” for festival stage events should be ready in June, and Matt Blanchette described continued outreach to find activities for morning and early-afternoon hours. Rosanna Glynn reported the number of merchandise and food vendors who have signed up. The committee approved purchasing 175 lawn signs to publicize events.
Merchandise and fundraising plans include a T-shirt sales effort led by Barbara Lesi and Pamela Barker-Jones, who are working to sell more shirts at a proposed price of $10 each. The committee reviewed Family Fun Night from May 15 and agreed the event went well. Members also examined rain-out options (Attachment B) and noted the committee’s contingency options are limited; they plan to revisit the topic as the festival date approaches.
The committee discussed volunteer recruitment, agreed to seek a volunteer coordinator, and to prepare an online, fillable volunteer application to collect interest throughout the summer via the website and Facebook.
The group set its next meeting for June 18, 2026. A motion to adjourn by Matt Blanchette, seconded by Karen Ambler, passed unanimously and the meeting ended at 7:30 p.m.
