Board approves Turner Construction pay applications totaling $1.054 million for county projects

The board voted to authorize Pay Application #16 for the Evidence Storage and Firing Range in the amount of $532,574.49 and Pay Application #15 for the Courthouse Renovation for $430,952.10. The Secondary Roads administration addition Pay Application #19 for $71,872.54 and the 902 Court Renovations Pay Application #3 for $18,913.75 were also approved. Motions to approve were made by Supervisor Kim Chapman and seconded by Supervisor Brad Golightly; all votes were recorded as ayes.
County staff said the evidence storage and firing range work is roughly 85% complete: site paving is finished and remaining items include mechanical and air-system installations, punch-list work and corrections, with completion expected next month. The courthouse renovation is about 74% complete; sod installation was planned for the week of July 7, with finish carpentry, removal of shoring and wall framing to follow.
Contractors and staff reviewed contingency balances for each project but did not provide detailed contingency amounts during the meeting. Supervisors asked whether any walls had cracked or shifted as shoring was removed; the update stated none had been noticed so far and that shoring is removed in sections to minimize risk.
The approvals authorizes payment to Turner Construction Company to cover completed work to date; no additional schedule changes or new change orders were announced at the meeting. The board’s next scheduled meeting will include continued project oversight.
