Temple Conservation Commission approves minutes, sets local conservation follow-ups

The Temple Conservation Commission opened its April 8 meeting, approved its March 11 minutes, and assigned several follow-up tasks on local conservation projects.
Clay Lennartz moved to accept the March 11, 2026 minutes; Sean Radcliffe seconded and the motion was recorded as passed. Scott Hecker's attendance was noted after he joined the meeting.
Under updates, members recorded that Mike Madden handled the commission's support for SB538. The commission had no new update on the Fisk Hill/Heald Tract trail connector.
Beth Preston provided revised language for the 'ABCs of Temple' information and members asked that Beth add the word 'approximately' regarding the NRI update schedule; Beth will follow up with Linda Bollinger. Cathy Joly will contact Carol Mamczak to better highlight the NRI on the town website and will extract NRI maps for posting.
Clay reported the Select Board supports logging on the Skladaney property to improve forest health but said timber prices are low; Clay asked Mike Madden and Sean Radcliffe to work with a forester to map skidder and hiking trails when conditions are favorable. For the Schoolhouse Meadow Garden, Beth, Marie Lennartz and Scott agreed to donate native flowers; the commission will set a planting day at the May meeting and Clay will ask the arborist about woodchips for mulch.
The scheduled conservation education work session was delayed until the next meeting. Marie Lennartz motioned to adjourn; Clay seconded and the meeting ended at 8:37 p.m.
