Conservation commission insists on soil testing before disturbance at Barry property

The Planning Board agreed the commission would send a list of questions to the Select Board to be addressed during the Select Board's meeting with town counsel; Mike Madden will compile that list.
Mike Madden also agreed to draft a letter to NHDES Waste Management documenting the commission's contamination concerns and will circulate the draft to commission members for review before submitting it. Members asked that the draft letter include statements from residents who know the orchard's history.
The commission's actions are procedural and preparatory: they direct staff and members to gather records and community testimony rather than taking formal regulatory steps at this meeting. Further action will depend on findings from any soil testing and counsel guidance.
