Benton County board approves consent items, AgBMP refund and policy updates in April 7 meeting

At its April 7 regular meeting, the Benton County Board of Commissioners approved multiple consent and administrative items including minutes, a labor memorandum of agreement, an AgBMP loan overpayment refund and several policy and contract approvals.
Auditor-Treasurer Christine Scherbing explained that a septic AgBMP loan for Eagle View Commons (Parcel 10.00607.00) had been paid in full Oct. 9, 2024, but an assessment was added in error for pay year 2025; the board approved a $1,300.76 refund to the property owner.
The board also approved a Memorandum of Agreement with Law Enforcement Labor Services, Inc. addressing step placement of a detention officer and authorized contracts with Reliance Systems for inmate communication services. Sheriff Troy Heck requested and the board approved a proclamation recognizing April 12–18, 2026, as National Public Safety Telecommunicator’s Week.
Human Services presented and the board approved an update to the Indigent Burial Policy to add up to $500 to contractors for opening and closing burial sites.
Board members set Committee of the Whole meeting dates, including a Low Voltage bid opening April 21, 2026, a tour of Vista Apartments April 28, 2026, and designated the Great River Regional Library Board of Trustees meeting on May 19, 2026 as a County Committee of the Whole meeting. Motions on these items were carried unanimously.
