Parks department sees retirements and vacancies; senior programming comparisons distributed

Board members reported several staffing changes that could affect programming. Lisa Larsen, who worked at the department front desk for 15 years, announced her retirement; the minutes record her last day as Friday, Jan. 23. Kimberly Williams has replaced Liz Duffy in senior programming and has been with the department a little over a month, the board said.
The department also has vacancies stemming from departures by Mimi Flanagan and Vinnie Celetti. Superintendent Matt Trainor and staff noted they are bound by Civil Service rules; certain exams were administered in October with fresh candidate lists expected to be released at the end of January or in February. That timing, officials said, affects how quickly open positions can be filled.
Because of staffing constraints, Superintendent Trainor said an outdoor movie in the park is unlikely this year unless sufficient staff are available. Sharon Weiss distributed a handout comparing North Castle’s senior programming with Pleasantville, Greenburgh and New Castle; no funding changes or program expansion decisions were recorded at the meeting.
The board recorded the staffing changes and noted follow-up will include hiring steps consistent with civil service timelines.
