Mayor Shawn Potillo used the Township Council’s June 9 meeting to formally thank Township Manager J.J. Murphy for his service and to announce an internal leadership transition. “Although your time with us was short, your impact will be lasting,” Mayor Potillo said, and he invited the council and community to join in wishing Murphy and his service dog well as he departs.
Potillo introduced Public Works Director Steve Senese as Roxbury’s Acting Township Manager and highlighted Senese’s six years of municipal service, professional qualifications, and approach to continuous improvement. The mayor noted the appointment coincided with Senese’s ninth wedding anniversary; council members and staff congratulated him during the public meeting.
Manager Murphy addressed the council in turn, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve Roxbury and thanked family, elected officials and Township staff for their support. Council members including Councilwoman Jaki Albrecht and Councilman Thomas Carey also offered public thanks and good wishes.
The appointment was presented as an administrative transition for municipal management; the council did not take a separate, recorded roll-call vote on the appointment during the public minutes. The meeting moved on after the tribute and the council’s formal agenda proceeded to proclamations, routine votes and public comment.
