The Chair presided over approval of the FY27 general fund operating budget final reading and a package of personnel appointments during the meeting. Mr. Manning moved to approve action item 6416132, which the board approved by voice vote.
The staff member told the board that year-end expenditures and revenues are mostly closed and that the district expects a retroactive foundation payment of about $1,300,000 for last year. “We will have quite a significant variance for our foundation revenue this school year because we have the change for this year's foundation revenue and also a retro payment, around 1,300,000 for last year's foundation revenue,” the staff member said. They added that final ledger details will determine how transfers and closing adjustments are handled.
The staff member also announced that the district’s Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) application was approved for the entire district and reinstated for four years, noting this will simplify food-service operations for the next school year. “We have brilliant news for food service. The CEP application was approved for the whole district, so it's been reinstated,” the staff member said.
The Chair read into the record the personnel and program approvals included in the action item: the FY27 general fund budget final reading; amended certified negotiated agreements; appointed and temporary hires including coaches, advisers and instructional staff (examples named during the reading included Jamie Guthrie as eighth-grade class adviser; Amanda Rosendale as high school cross country head coach; Tony Scott as high school boys basketball head coach; Daniel Williams as high school wrestling head coach; Owen Fulton as CDF head coach; Alexandria Prece as middle-school cross-country coach; Brian Hayward for middle-school boys basketball; Joshua Gifford as testing coordinator; Shannon Hudson as curriculum and arts director; Ashley Scott as technology director; Michael Nigus as CTE consortium coordinator; Nicole Taylor as project coordinator; Jeanne Lindsey as ESEA/interventionist coordinator; and counseling/mental health service positions). The reading also included renewal of a custodial services memorandum of agreement and materials orders.
The staff member reported the district’s checking account stood at about $2,600,000 with special revenue funds near $2,300,000 at the end of May; they noted some funds typically roll forward if not fully expended. No formal roll-call vote with member-by-name tallies was recorded in the transcript; the Chair called for ayes and the motions passed on voice votes with an excused member noted at roll call.
The board concluded the agenda item with no additional amendments and moved on to other reports. The meeting adjourned later the same session.
Next steps: staff will finalize general ledger details and present any necessary closing adjustments for the fiscal year; approved hires and appointments will proceed per district policy.
