A representative for Rosebud Search & Rescue told the court the request covers past repairs, emergency lights and service work on a vehicle, annual mandated servicing for dive‑team regulators, radios purchased with grant funds and a gap of roughly $1,770 for equipment. The new‑request portion of the packet asked for funds to widen three bay doors from 10 feet to 12 feet and to purchase 12‑foot doors and openers so the team can accommodate larger boats and speed responses.
The court discussed the group’s limited fundraising capacity and noted the rescue squad cannot charge for deployments under state law. One magistrate observed the squad often volunteers across county lines during disasters and asked whether the county should restrict out‑of‑county deployments; the rescue representative said deployments are coordinated through state emergency management and are often volunteer efforts that require mostly fuel costs.
A motion to fund the request carried by voice vote. The rescue representative said about $15,000 of the current year’s funds had already been expended and the new money would pay for the garage doors and remaining items. The courthouse will receive an itemized packet of invoices and quotes submitted with the request.
Court members thanked the rescue volunteers for their service and asked staff to process the reimbursement and capital request consistent with county procurement rules.
