Wahoo — The Wahoo Planning Commission on June 4 voted to recommend that the City Council adopt an amendment to the City Zoning Regulations redefining single-family dwellings to require a minimum of 50 percent of the total square-foot area to be habitable.
The public hearing on the change opened at 7:02 p.m. and city staff reviewed the proposed provisions. No members of the public offered comments during the hearing. Commissioner Pearson moved to close the hearing at 7:03 p.m.; the motion carried on a roll-call vote.
Following the hearing, Commissioner Fick moved that the Planning Commission recommend the amendment to the City Council; Commissioner Wilcox seconded the motion. The recommendation passed on roll call with Fick, Wilcox, Gabel, Lentfer, Egr, Pearson and Chair Tracy Pfligler voting yes; Commissioners Brooks and Miyoshi were absent and did not vote.
The amendment would change the definition used in the City Zoning Regulations to require at least half of a single-family structure’s floor area to be considered habitable under the code. The commission’s action was a recommendation to the City Council; any final change to the Zoning Regulations would require council consideration and adoption.
The meeting record shows no public comments on the measure and no amendments were made by the Planning Commission. The City Council will receive the commission’s recommendation at a future meeting.
