Wahoo Airport Authority authorizes contractor selection, approves temporary use for Omaha Soaring Club and accepts audit

The Wahoo Airport Authority unanimously authorized City Administrator Harrell and Chairperson Brian Homes on April 20 to review bids and select a contractor for the 2026 hangar construction project, contingent on Federal Aviation Administration approval and with advisement from engineering firm Kirkham-Michael.
Alexa Hazelton of Kirkham-Michael had briefed the board on the upcoming bid opening before the motion. Board member Lawver moved the authorization and Virgl seconded; the motion passed, 5-0.
The board also approved a request related to the Omaha Soaring Club. Eric Hineman spoke to the club’s request to use Wahoo Airport while Blair Airport is closed for construction. Board member Landry moved and Schmit seconded approval on the condition that the club follow the airport’s minimum standards; that motion passed, 5-0.
In separate votes, the board accepted the Wahoo Airport Authority’s FY 2024-25 audited financial statement (motion by Lawver; seconded by Schmit) and approved the claims as submitted (motion by Lawver; seconded by Homes). Both motions passed unanimously, 5-0. Approved claims listed in the meeting packet included payments to Bomgaars ($239.21), Papa Tango ($4,060.00), World Fuel ($30.00), NDOT ($1,025.00) and Wahoo Utilities ($1,014.69), among others.
The board tabled approval of the March 16, 2026 minutes to the next meeting. The meeting adjourned at 5:47 p.m.
