Halifax County Solid Waste board elects officers, approves 2018 minutes

Directors unanimously appointed Larry Roller as chair, D. “Jeffrey” Oakes as vice chair and designated Verron “Ron” Brade as executive director/treasurer/secretary; the board also approved May 7, 2018 minutes.
At a Feb. 17 meeting, the Halifax County Solid Waste Disposal Authority reorganized its leadership and approved prior minutes.
On a motion by Director D. Witt, seconded by Director R. Smart, the board appointed Mr. L. Roller as Chair. Directors then voted to appoint Mr. D. “Jeffrey” Oakes as Vice Chair after a motion by Director D. Witt and a second by Director R. Smart. The board also voted, on a motion by Director D. Witt seconded by Mr. M. Thompson, to appoint Verron “Ron” Brade as Executive Director, Treasurer and Secretary for the authority. All three motions passed on recorded 6–0 votes; Director P. Riddle was absent for the meeting and the votes.
Vice Chair Oakes moved, and Mr. R. Smart seconded, to approve the minutes of the May 7, 2018 meeting; that motion also passed 6–0. Vice Chair Oakes noted the 2018 minutes recorded that a prior motion had increased the solid waste fee to $75 annually effective July 1, 2018, and that that action was the final action of the former Public Service Authority Board.
The meeting adjourned at 9:13 p.m.
