Rimrock, Grand View principals report strong early-year student growth and activities

School leaders at the Bruneau-Grand View Joint School District told trustees Oct. 14 that early-year academic measures show notable growth and a busy activities calendar.
Secondary Principal Mr. Waterlander said fall NWEA MAP testing indicates year-over-year growth that exceeded the district goal (median growth at or above the 60th percentile) across grades and subjects. He reported that 100% of seniors had applied to at least one college via Apply Idaho, noted recent FFA competitions, and cited scholarships totaling $530,000 received by students. Upcoming assessments and trips included a TRIO visit to Idaho State University and PSAT testing for selected grades.
Elementary Principal Mrs. McClure presented i-Ready growth from Aug. 19 to Sept. 23 with per-grade figures (kindergarten 77% growth, 1st grade 50%, 2nd grade 75%, 3rd grade 65%, 4th grade 73%, 5th grade 58%; total growth 66%). She outlined upcoming events such as the Idaho Reading Indicator window, Red Ribbon Week and a STEM day at Grand View Elementary. The principals also noted extracurricular activities, attendance goals and staff recognitions.
The meeting record shows current district enrollment at 125 students and an average-daily-attendance goal of 95 percent. Trustees received these reports as informational items; no formal action was required.
