DeLoach said the recruitment process is underway: one vacancy’s application window closes at the end of July with interviews and a hoped-for August start; the other position’s application period closes at the end of July and is expected to be filled later in August or early September. No hiring votes or formal personnel actions took place at the meeting; staff said they will proceed with standard city hiring procedures and interviews.
Commissioner Bernie praised the director and staff work that led to program successes and awards, saying the director’s leadership was central to recent improvements. Commissioners requested future agenda time for staff to present their roles so the board can better understand daily operations and service delivery.
Next steps: staff will manage recruitments under city hiring rules and notify the commission as new hires begin; farewell events and outreach to volunteers were encouraged.
