Ferron Fire Department to receive extraction tools after donation; Peach Days vendor fees set

Ferron City’s fire department reported a recent on-call tool failure and moves to replace the necessary extraction equipment after receiving a donation from R‑Plus Energy.
Council Member Kellee Singleton presented the fire department report and said extraction tools that failed during a call will be replaced with equipment purchased using a donation secured with Chief Randy Kenney’s assistance. Singleton said the tools are due to be delivered next week and that the department will hold a demonstration for the team once the equipment arrives. The department also plans a fundraiser on July 11 and will coordinate with the county on fireworks for Peach Days if permitted.
On community events, Jacque Wilde briefed the council on Peach Days planning. The council approved vendor fees to remain at $30 for a booth without electricity and $40 with electricity. Members discussed that vendor power at the fairgrounds was problematic last year and that some vendors may need to provide their own power; Council Member Mike Behling said he would contact the Horse Association about horse races and report back.
Both the donation for the extraction tools and the vendor fee decisions were recorded in the meeting minutes; no votes on additional funding were taken at the meeting beyond motions approving agenda items where recorded.
