Ferron Council backs comment letter as BLM Millsite sale for golf course enters public comment

Mayor Trent Jackson credited Council Member Ray Petersen for his work with Price BLM staff, including Kyle Beagley, to move the sale forward. Beagley told the council the sale is in the 45‑day comment period; he said most comments to date have been positive and that, after the period ends and concerns are addressed, the Price office would forward the file to the Salt Lake office to begin drafting the patent. Ferron’s proposed purchase price is $173,000 and the parcel size discussed was approximately 152 acres.
Council Member Petersen asked whether the mayor and he could submit a written comment letter; the council agreed and Petersen moved to submit the letter as written. Council Member Kellee Singleton seconded and the motion passed on roll call.
If the BLM resolves outstanding comments, the agency indicated the sale could proceed through agency review and patent drafting as soon as July. The council’s formal comment will be part of the public record for the land sale.
