"Green My Power...is a simple way for people to negate their emissions from their electricity lives," Welsh said, explaining that the program uses the Green‑e registry for REC accounting and provides a portal where participants can track certificates and carbon mitigation. He described default participation levels based on housing-size categories to simplify enrollment and an option that lets residents link their Con Edison account for usage-matched purchases.
Welsh said the program also includes an offer of direct enrollment in an upcoming community-solar project tied to the initiative, which he said could reduce costs for participants and expand access to solar development. He noted that some projects prioritize lower-income customers and that the program aims to combine REC purchases with community-solar participation to increase impact.
Supervisor and board members welcomed the proposal and raised outreach ideas, including partnering with local group Green Ossining for town-branded materials. Welsh offered to circulate slides and suggested the platform can generate town-level reports displaying participation and carbon mitigation metrics.
The board did not take a formal vote on the program; members expressed general support and asked staff to circulate materials for further consideration.
