Planning & Zoning Commissioner Dave Higgins announced that an interested party has requested rezoning for the Bel Arco project and that a public hearing will be held on Jan. 9, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at Bull Shoals City Hall.
The hearing was announced during the council's regular meeting on Dec. 19, when Mayor Bill Stahlman recognized Higgins and relayed that formal notices will run in local newspapers. Commissioner Higgins did not provide details about the requested zoning designation or the applicant at the meeting.
Why it matters: Rezoning can change permitted uses, density and utility obligations for a parcel and will be decided after the Jan. 9 public hearing when residents and property owners may comment. Several citizens at the Dec. 19 meeting expressed concern about the proposal and asked procedural questions about who may attend the hearing.
What to expect next: The Planning & Zoning Commission will hold the public hearing Jan. 9; the commission's recommendation, if any, will be returned to the City Council for possible ordinance action. Notices will be published in local newspapers with additional details and any submission deadlines.
