Town Manager reports on pool/Safe Haven prep, police updates and July 4 schedule

Town Manager Jessica Cyr told the Select Board on June 15 that town staff are preparing for opening day for the pool and the summer Safe Haven program; registrations are currently a little lower than normal but she expects numbers to rise as requests continue.
Cyr also provided police updates: the department has one open position and an applicant will take the physical test Friday; new printers and base stands have been installed in cruisers for mobile data terminals and MDTs are being configured at Certified Computers pending SIM cards. She said police attended a First Responder event at Santa’s Village to coordinate with other agencies and that most donated bicycle helmets have been distributed.
Cyr reported enforcement action: "Isha’s on Main Street was still selling Kratom and have been issued a town ordinance violation fine of $1,000," she said. She added Lt. Matthews and K9 Barrett will attend the Northern NH Emergency Services Showcase on June 27 and Chief Woodworth will assist an Elder Abuse Specialist from the New Hampshire Attorney General’s office with a presentation to AmeriCorps Senior Program workers on scams and fraud.
Cyr reviewed municipal maintenance and event items: Water Department potholing identified 24 lines; Soldiers Park garden caretakers will continue after a leadership change and the Lancaster Historical Society will open Wilder Cemetery for visitors July 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; the town parade starts at 10 a.m. followed by a picnic at Centennial Park and an ice cream social at Colonel Town from 1–3 p.m. Town Hall is in compliance with emergency lighting and exit signage; side steps toward Mechanic Street are expected to be replaced within two weeks.
