Garden City council transmits comprehensive plan, OKs LED sign purchase and amends city manager contract

At the July 6 meeting the council approved a sequence of resolutions and consent items.
A resolution authorizing transmittal of the draft comprehensive plan update (2040→2045) to the Coastal Georgia Regional Commission and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for the required 45‑day review passed on a roll‑call vote after a staff presentation from planning (Mr. Carlos). The transmittal is the required step to begin state review of the draft land‑use and policy update.
Council then approved a resolution authorizing the purchase and installation of an Atlas outdoor monument LED digital sign from Stewart Signs for the new Garden City Recreational Complex, with an expenditure not to exceed $50,000 and funding appropriated from the SPLOST fund balance. The clerk called the roll and the motion carried.
Finally, council approved a resolution to execute the second amendment to the city manager’s employment agreement with Rhonda Farrah Boles as presented; the item was moved, seconded and adopted by roll call.
Procedural items also included approval of council minutes from the June 15 pre‑agenda and council sessions; that consent motion carried by voice/roll call. The meeting adjourned after a motion and second.
