Grants update: county wins multiple awards; committee approves Spark vehicle lease

Erica reported several recent grant awards and updates: a $600,000 Federal Highway Administration grant for engineering design and NEPA work on 14 miles of CTHH LaPointe; $40,000 for interoperable WISCOM radios; and a $181,000 coastal management grant to help purchase the Maxwell Forest property (the grant’s holding was transferred to Bayfield County for interim payment). She also confirmed finalization of a $683,000 innovation grant spread over five years to support PSAP consolidation with Bayfield County and described work on a large $3.2 million earmark for emergency radio tower equipment currently in the application phase with a tight deadline.
Separately, the committee approved a motion to lease a vehicle for the Spark program, to be paid with Spark grant dollars at a lower monthly lease cost than Enterprise quotes. The committee recorded the motion and approved it by voice vote.
Erica said staff will continue working on pending applications and coordinating technical and financial steps for projects where awards require county action or interim cash flow arrangements.
