Parks committee approves mower replacement and one-year cooling-tower protection agreement

Parks and Recreation staff told the committee they need to replace a 2015 skid mower with roughly 2,900 hours and recommended buying a new mower through Sourcewell (reference 1400624). "This is something that we need," the presenter (S3) said. Committee members moved and seconded the purchase and voted to approve it.
Staff also described problems with a cooling-tower pump and the risk of bacterial growth in the basin. The presenter said the Lee Company recommended an asset protection agreement that includes semiannual inspections, a chemical controller to treat the basin and reporting. Staff stated the cost was included in the capital budget at $15,007.92 and said the controllers would be installed in the geothermal room. The presenter also said the city would own the equipment after three years but that the vendor agreement discussed was for a single year.
A committee member (S2) moved to approve the cooling-tower asset protection agreement with Lee Company; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
The committee discussed vendor history; staff said the city has dealt with CHC on other service agreements but engaged Lee Company for this project after internal review. Staff said the treatment program will supply data and reports to monitor basin conditions and limit bacteria growth.
