Bonner Springs honors Eagle Scout Braden Corgle, recognizes Gloria Ochoa and Arbor Day

The Bonner Springs City Council used its April 14 meeting to recognize several community members and observances.
Mayor Tom Stevens presented a proclamation honoring Braden Corgle for earning the rank of Eagle Scout and for leading a volunteer project that rebuilt the stage at Bonner Springs United Methodist Church. Braden and his family were recognized.
The council also presented a retirement proclamation to Gloria Ochoa for 19 years of city service, including roles as a dispatcher and senior center director; Gloria spoke to the council about her years of service and thanked staff and volunteers. City leaders read a proclamation recognizing April 2025 as National Child Abuse Prevention Month; Carolyn Schreiner, program director for the Leavenworth Atchison Child Advocacy Center, attended. The council recognized Arbor Day (April 27) and heard from Betty Ream of the Bonner Beautiful Commission on local tree-planting activities and an April 25 Arbor Day program at Bonner Springs Elementary.
These items were ceremonial and required no council action beyond proclamation approval.
