Residents object as school district considers converting school-owned Anderson Farms parcel to bus yard

At the July 14 Linden Planning Commission meeting staff reported that the school district, which owns parcel R112 in Anderson Farms, is evaluating several uses for the property. The parcel had been purchased years ago for an elementary school; the district now may designate it as a bus yard for district vehicles, prompting substantial neighborhood opposition.
Staff said neighbors have raised concerns about bus traffic, inadequate egress, and loss of anticipated school use. Commissioners and staff discussed potential alternatives, including locating a bus facility outside the residential area, collaborating on property acquisition near existing transportation corridors, or using closed school sites as interim facilities. Staff noted that school-district decisions are governed by the school board and that the city's role is advisory; any bus-yard conversion would require coordination on circulation, railroad crossings, and, where applicable, land acquisition.
Commissioners encouraged continued outreach and asked staff to track resident input and report back on options that minimize neighbor impacts.
