The board approved two personnel and program items in a single action block during the meeting.
Superintendent recommended the appointment of Steven Chee as principal of Willow Creek Elementary, describing his leadership experience and internal-hire status; trustees moved, seconded and approved the appointment by voice vote. Steven Chee (appointee) thanked the board and described student-centered priorities, saying his guiding principle is “students first” and emphasizing relationship-building as foundational to learning.
Separately, a parent/presenter described a proposed Snapology after-school program (six-week sessions, typically 90 minutes once per week; parents pay $95 per session; the vendor returns 20% of fees to the school as fundraising). Trustees discussed class length, digital vs. mechanical programming, customization for Title I schools and pricing; staff clarified Snapology provides supplies and instructors and that programs can be customized for different schools and fee structures (some Title I schools run shorter sessions to reduce parent cost). The board moved to approve an agreement allowing Snapology to provide after-school STEM classes as a private service provider for 2025–26; the motion passed by voice vote.
Staff will inform principals and track interest across schools for future expansion and will report back on participation and fundraising revenue.
