Caldwell board approves Read 180 and Math 180 for At‑Risk students; audit reviewed, 2000 Thomas bus placed for silent bids

The Caldwell Unified School District No. 360 Board on Monday approved the purchase and implementation of Read 180 and Math 180 to support At‑Risk students. The curriculum recommendation was presented by Virtual Instructor Dee Dee Schmitz and approved on a motion from Board President Darren McDorman, seconded by Jake Ginn; the minutes record the vote as 5-0.
CPA Randy Ford attended the meeting to present the district’s financial audit report; the minutes note the presentation but do not record a formal board action related to the audit.
The board also agreed to open silent bids for the district’s 2000 Thomas bus; bids will be reviewed at the board’s Dec. 8, 2025 regular meeting. Superintendent Traci Becker led discussion on possible options for the 2026–2027 school calendar, and the board received updates from principals and a Special Education report from board member Kordell Kattenberg.
Earlier in the meeting the board adopted the agenda (motion by Chris Baker, seconded by Kordell Kattenberg; recorded vote 5-0) and approved the consent agenda, which the minutes list as approved by a 6-0 vote. Consent agenda items included the Oct. 13, 2025 regular meeting minutes, the financial report, bills and warrants, and the hiring of Katie Jo Schmidt as MS/HS assistant track coach for 2025–2026. The meeting adjourned at 7:36 p.m.
