Council authorizes code compliance action, recommends officer for code enforcement and approves workstation equipment

City Attorney Josh Albin said he had discussed contract renewal dates with Rob Lane of Professional Code Compliance and asked for authority to set a termination deadline and to obtain contractor records. The council gave Albin authority to proceed with termination and set an October 1, 2025 deadline for turnover of records.
Chief of Police Ron Cannon recommended Officer Alan Marcotte as the city's code enforcement officer and asked for council guidance on police involvement with code compliance through October. Officer Marcotte said he will review the code book and pursue safer buildings; the council approved purchasing a desktop computer, desk chair and related items to establish a workstation for code compliance (motion by Carleta Bolack; second by Chase Hobart), vote 4-0. Council directed further discussion of updating the code book to the September meeting.
