Burden sets public hearing for CDBG housing rehabilitation and demolition grant application

Donna Jackson presented the Burden CDBG Housing Rehabilitation and Demolition grant packet to the council and recommended the city proceed with an application. Jackson said many residents expressed interest and that the proposed project would include: four demolitions, four owner-occupied weatherization projects, five owner-occupied rehabilitations, three landlord/rental weatherizations and four landlord/rental rehabilitations.
Council voted to hold a public hearing at 6:30 PM on Aug. 25, 2025 to consider submitting an application (motion by Chris Cannon; second by Taylor Dory). The council instructed staff to publish hearing notices on utility bills and to solicit public input at the hearing.
